Early signs of appendicitis
In recent years, the incidence of appendicitis has markedly decreased. At the very early stages, one of main signs of appendicitis is a vague ache that occurs around the navel, which generally moves to the lower part of the abdomen, on the right side. Chronic appendicitis is more well-known as a mild form of appendicitis. The appendix is a closed-ended, narrow tube up to several inches in length that attaches to the cecum (the first part of the colon) like a worm.
The cause of appendicitis relates to blockage of the inside of the appendix, known as the lumen. The inflammation is usually caused by a blockage, but may be caused by an infection. Appendicitis is swelling (inflammation) of the appendix.
